with a big branch he found on the ground being swung around at the ursaring to keep them at bay, wolfgang snarls back at the wild pokemon. his voice if tinted with annoyance and spite despite the danger he's currently facing.

he had just come back to check on the flowers they had left on the patch when he sees pokemon flocking towards it. a strange smell comes from the flora, though he can't decipher whether it's from the gracidea itself or if it's alien material on their flower patch.

"back off!" he shouts at the wild pokemon. it seemed effective for the most part. "no one loves you! get out!"

his riolu guards the other side of the garden.

out of the pokemon he has, it's the only one that can possibly fend it off without destroying much of the environment. he's not trusting his typhlosion to not burn things down, and he's pretty sure all his rotom can do is activate guts.

elijah trods in on his gogoat. the hooves trod on the ground with dull thuds: a lazy gait despite the aggressive bear looming over wolfgang.[break][break]

"you think branches and insults are gonna keep this ursaring away?"[break][break]

he grumbles.[break][break]

"idiot." he dismounts and sends his gogoat in front of the light-haired man.[break][break]

to threaten the bear, the gogoat kicks its hooves against the ground.

"hah?"

wolfgang takes offense in what elijah had said, but he was in no position to retort. on hindsight, he was right. on the other hand, he does have a reason to do it this way.

the gogoat gets the ursaring's attention. the pokemon quickly turns around at the bigger threat, looking away at wolfgang who it deems less dangerous than an actual pokemon.

the opportunity presents itself as wolfgang runs forward and performs a drop kick that pushes the pokemon forward, away from the garden. it staggers from its footing before it gets paralyzed by a well-timed force palm from the riolu. it managed to only hit the knees of the bear given its height, but it's a direct hit nonetheless.

"if it gets the flowers safe, then it's worth!" he tells elijah as he stands up, dusting himself off.

wolfgang drop kicks the ursaring and elijah is paralyzed by disbelief. if he were to stand in place any longer, he'd take root. the quick pang! of a FORCE PALM brings him to his senses, but barely.[break][break]

"you're crazy." elijah's gogoat lunges forth. "leaf blade."[break][break]

its horns glow hot green. the ursaring buckles from the punishment its knees take, and when the gogoat drives its hard horns into the gut of the bear, the ursaring is tossed even further.[break][break]

"crazy, but i get it." elijah says, peering at the untouched flowers. "but if you get hurt, who's gonna take care of the garden idiot?"

he's the only other person that probably knows of the garden's location.

wolfgang dusts himself as he stands up, all while his riolu tries its best to assist the trainer. it gets a scratch on top of its head as a reward, though it didn't really do anything in that regard.

"i'll just ask ya to set up an electric fence or somethin' 'round the perimeter, and hook it up to a generator maybe. i got a spare one anyways. that's easy shit right there."

plans were already set up for the worst case scenario. he's already trying to simplify an instruction manual in his head as he talks.

"whaddya do to prevent this kinda thing to happen? ya deal with sweet smellin' plants all year 'round."

still, little can deter an ursaring should its mind be set.[break][break]

"some natural repellents. you can make some using gloom."[break][break]

however, their special garden plant is hard to prepare for. even elijah's lengthy experience has had little contact with the gracidea. he grumbles at the thought. the gaps in knowledge rolling around his mouth like barbs.[break][break]

"making an electric fence really that easy?"

"hell yeah. just connect some metal wiring to a current and wrap it around the area. it's that easy."

as the alternative is thrown out in the air, wolfgang starts to rethink his choice.

"it'll only be effective against smaller pokemon though. to get an ursaring off, you'd need a high enough voltage."

he scratches the back of his head as he comes to that conclusion.

"ya, let's just do yer thing."

it would be way cheaper than trying to set up a generator strong enough to produce electric currents strong enough to stun a big beast. not to mention it's going to take a lot of space given the current technology available to the market, and how little wolfgang has in the bank.

"gimme a day and i'll have it done."

it's not as difficult to set up as it is to actually make work. the area they needed to fence in was on the smaller side, and he can probably scrounge up some materials to start it up for cheap with junk from previous jobs that he's had lying around.

"i just need a generator. maybe something that electric-types can power up. i don't think we'll get much solar or wind form this place anyways."

the canopy blocks the light and trunks around them block the wind. with no nearby stream of water as well, it's the only thing wolfgang can think of at the moment, especially given he's been beaten up earlier.

"everything else, i can get."

he imagines he can pull some strings. find something from a rocket hideout or two. an abandoned or cleared bunker in the wake of 99943 METENO's diversion may possess one and with Admin Felix Gallagher and jayden cross's work with LOCKBOX, there is bound to be one he can snag.[break][break]
